Synopsis
Abby Reynolds is burned out.
Since clawing her way into a great position at a Boston museum, she’s been saddled with a scheming intern and a nagging boss. She’s scuttled her own painting dreams, her cat refuses to be box trained, and now the most boring man on the eastern seaboard just told her, “It’s not you, it’s me.”
Her bestie Sarah offers a much-needed escape: a summer of sand, sea, and younger men in Santa Cruz…
Hot young bike racer Jason is sexy, unattached, and completely ready to spend a summer in uncomplicated flirtation. Since Abby has decided love is off the table, he seems like the perfect match.
Then she meets Matt. Sculptor, surfer (and age appropriate), he’s everything she gave up wanting and then some. He’s a grown-ass man with his own life issues: does he want to sculpt for love or for profit? What about that twentysomething model who’s always clinging to him? Is he ready to let a woman invade his Fortress of Solitude?
Abby has to decide whether she’s satisfied with leaving behind the idea of Mr. Right and settling for Mr. Right Now.
Grown up love. It’s complicated.

My Review 4 Stars out of 5
I have to say that this was a very interesting book.  This is definitely not a book where everything is predictable.  The author was able to incorporate humor, twists, and freakin hot men into one book.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it based on the title of the book.  For some reason I thought it was going to be boring.  However, this author was able to captivate me with the plot of the story.  It absolutely is not boring at all.  I should know better than to judge a book by its cover but I will admit I’m guilty of this sometimes.  In this instance I was absolutely WRONG!!!  Hope you enjoy J

His arm brushed across my chest. Despite the chunky wool sweater I wore, I felt it as clearly as if I’d been naked. Sparks raced across my body and landed straight between my thighs and all I could think about was his strong arms lifting me up on the counter and taking me. Fucking me like he meant it. Fucking me like he was starved for my body. My breath ratcheted up a notch and I pressed my thighs together, shifting back and forth, trying to get my mind off the sexy man infiltrating my space. “Okay there, Sugar?” his breath whispered across my neck as he stood behind me. When had he gotten there? Where had I been? Lost in my fantasy of him taking me in the kitchen, that’s where. “Fine,” I croaked.

My Review 4 Stars out of 5
This was a very very naughty book…it sounds better in Spanish which btw I’m not fluent in. Talk about scorching sex scenes. Kat is running from her past and doesn’t want any type of commitment. However, having casual sex with sexy men is not out of the question. When Lane meets Kat there was something in her that he couldn’t resist, and after he sleeps with her he definitely is hooked. Kat is not interested in a relationship. There are things that she doesn’t want to share about herself, but Lane just can’t seem to stay away from Kat. OMG Lane cracked me up when he kept calling her “Sugar” instead of Kat. She would get so mad when he called her by that name but the more it made her mad the more he would say it. Kat ends up developing feelings for Lane which is not what she wanted. Then her past catches up to her and talk about biting my nails. I loved the story of Kat and Lane and how their relationship develops. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

“You’re so responsive,” he murmured in my hair, as he took my nipples between his fingers through the fabric, twisting and caressing, causing them to ache and tingle with lust. “Are you wet for me, Sugar?” he asked so softly it could have been my imagination. His words were the voice of a sexy angel over my shoulder, the demon of my dreams, meant to take me and consume me.

Sempre: Redemption (Forever, #2) by J.M. Darhower (Includes Review) 5 Stars out of 5

In this thrilling and sexy follow-up to Sempre, two young lovers struggle to keep their relationship intact after they become deeply enmeshed in the dangerous mafia-run crime ring they once tried to overthrow.

Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco have been through a lot. Haven was taken in by Carmine’s father, and with his family’s help, she escaped a gruesome fate. However, saving Haven from the dark intentions of a mafia family cost Carmine a steep price: he was forced to swear loyalty to them.

Now, still passionately in love, Carmine and Haven must face the fall-out of Carmine’s forced service, as Haven discovers terrifying secrets about the family that enslaved both her and her mother—and why she matters so much in this intricate web of lies.

About the Author:

JM Darhower is the author of countless stories and poems, most of which only she has ever read. She lives in a tiny town in rural North Carolina, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and speaking out against human trafficking, and when she isn't writing (or fangirling about books) she's usually ranting about those things.

Chronic crimper with a vulgar mouth, she admits to having a Twitter addiction. You can usually always find her there.

Excerpt:

Carmine sat in his usual chair in the library, casually strumming his guitar. A sliver of light filtered in from the large window, illuminating his somber expression in the darkness. She called his name but he remained still, continuing to pluck at the strings almost as if he hadn’t heard her. She took a step toward him and was about to say his name again when he let out a long, deep sigh. “I had a dream.”
“Another nightmare?” she asked, walking over to him. He glanced up at her as his fingers stilled, the music stopping, but Haven barely noticed. She couldn’t focus on anything but the green eyes boring into her. Once so alive with passion, she saw nothing but deep sadness marring the bright color.
Carmine set the guitar aside and moved his legs to make room, motioning for her to join him. She climbed into his lap and he wrapped his arms around her.
“Not a nightmare this time,” he said. “It was a good dream.”
“What was it about?”
“You,” he said quietly. “You made a painting—some abstract shit, I don’t know—but it was so good they hung it in a museum and raved about how talented you were. It was like you were the next fucking Picasso, tesoro.”
She laughed. “I don’t even know how to paint, Carmine.”
“You could learn,” he said. “Would you want to?”
“Maybe, but I don’t know how good I’d be.”
“Oh, you’d be good,” he said confidently. “You shouldn’t doubt yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to.”
“Except for play the piano,” she said playfully. “Or the guitar.”
He chuckled. “Yeah, for the sake of everyone’s ears, we ought to leave music to me, but the rest is all you. You can probably do all of that, you know. Draw, paint, sculpt shit into weird shapes and tell people it’s something it doesn’t look anything like. That takes talent.”
She smiled. “And you think I have that kind of talent?”
“Of course,” he said. “There’s gonna be no stopping you once you get started.”
“Thank you,” she whispered, a swell of emotion surging through her at his words. “It means a lot that you believe in me.”
“I’d be an idiot not to,” he said, kissing the top of her head.

My Review 5 Stars out of 5

One of the best books of the year. I cried, laughed, and got mad. So many emotions while I was reading this book. Carmine sacrificed so much because of his love for Haven. Haven loved Carmine unconditionally. These two were meant for each other and I loved the entire book. This is one I will read again and again.
