Nomination for Blogger Award

I've been nominated by Glenna Maynard a new upcoming and talented auther for a blogger award. :)

My name is Veronica Guzman.  My mother’s side of the family calls me Roni and my dad’s side calls me Vero.  I’m okay with both but to get my two families to agree is never going to happen.  I started reading more books than I have ever read in my life since my mom and sister got me a Kindle Fire in May of last year.  It was the best birthday present ever!!!  They gave me gift cards to Amazon for Christmas which was awesome.  I’m addicted to the one click pay settings.  I really need to turn it off.  My list of favorite authors is huge because there are so many talented writers out there.  So it was nice being nominated by Glenna Maynard for a blogger award and I'm looking forward to her new book Beautiful Strangers.

7 things about me….big toughie (I am a chatter box)

  1. Let’s see I am a mother to a 20 year old beautiful daughter that is in her second year of college.  She’s is my biggest accomplishment in life.  I was 17 when I got pregnant with her and 18 when I had her.  Of course the father left us and I had to face this alone.  However, I did have the support of my entire family which I am blessed to have.  Not many young girls have this support.  I stayed single until she was 5 years old.  That’s when I met the love of my life.
  2. I married when I was 24 and now I have been married 14 years going on 15 years this October.  He has helped raise our daughter as his own.  That is her daddy in every way. I received my Bachelor’s of Business Administration in June 2010.  I couldn’t have done this without my husband, so in a way he earned this degree as well.  I’m currently in a Master’s program but took a leave of absence due to my condition.  I only have 15 credits more to go to finally finish my Master’s.  I’m very close yet so very far.  My body isn’t able to work full-time and go to school at the same time.  I’m determined to get better and return back this year.  Hopefully by this summer I will return.
  3. Right after I was married I had two miscarriages.   After some other symptoms that I had I was finally diagnosed with Lupus.  I was basically told that children were not possible but from what the doctors told me if I hadn’t had Vicki when I did then I may have never been able to have children.  It was hard but I eventually came to terms with it.
  4. I am now a book addict and it is sad.  I use to read before my Kindle but not as much as I do now.  What I have found out is that by reading it has helped me with my stress level.  If my stress level is manageable then so is my condition.  I have been having fewer flares and not getting sick as much as I use to.  This is a relief for me and for my family.  Having lived with this condition for so long it can become very hopeless and depressing but I will not give up my fight.
  5. I am the oldest of three girls.  I am very close to my baby sister and we have a huge age difference.  I am 13 years older than her but she is my rock.  It’s a joke that we call each other sister a friend.  In reality she truly is both to me.
  6. I have a close relationship with my mom.  We talk daily and we live three minutes from each other.  While I was a teenager we didn’t get along but as soon as I became a mother that changed.  Our family is very close and sometimes it can get annoying but I love them.  They mean everything to me.
  7. My middle sister is the baby maker in the family…lol she has 3 kids.  A twelve year old boy, seven year old girl, and a three year old boy.  I get to spoil them as much as I want and hand them back to my sister when I get tired.  I love them so much and so grateful to have them in my life.  In addition to my sister’s kids, I have a Rottweiler named Roxy.  She is my surrogate child in so many ways.  I baby her and she is truly like a child to me.  Roxy has saved my life several times.  One incident that comes up to mind is when my sugar level had gone so low while I was asleep and if Roxy hadn’t tried to wake me up and get help for me I may have gone into a coma which is what doctors said.  She is my little guardian angel and stays by side everywhere I go around the house.

I’m sure I have bored you with all of my little tid bits but it’s nice to let people know some personal things about myself.
